Inspiral Carpets are a British indie-rock band formed in Oldham in 1983 and associated with the Madchester scene. Clint Boon’s Farfisa organ cuts through their guitar-driven, neo-psychedelic songs; “This Is How It Feels,” “Dragging Me Down” and “Saturn 5,” as well as the debut album Life, are central to their catalogue. Their 1990 concert at Manchester’s G-Mex documented the band during the Life era and was released as a live video. They reunited for concerts in 2003, and original singer Stephen Holt rejoined in 2011, beginning another period of touring. After drummer Craig Gill died in 2016, the band returned to the stage in 2023. Their return featured Kev Clark on drums.
