The Wurzels in Stroud

The Wurzels are an English comedy folk band formed in Somerset in 1966 by singer-songwriter Adge Cutler. They call their music “scrumpy and western,” pairing West Country dialect and rural humour with folk and country sounds. Their best-known songs include the UK chart-topper “The Combine Harvester” and “I Am a Cider Drinker.” They continued performing after Cutler’s death in 1974, playing pubs, theatres and festivals around Britain. They have appeared repeatedly at Glastonbury Festival and performed at Ashton Gate, where their songs have long been part of Bristol City matchdays.
