Theo Croker in Neustadt an der Weinstraße

Theo Croker is an American trumpeter, composer and producer, born in Leesburg, Florida, in 1985. He plays contemporary jazz shaped by funk, soul, hip-hop and electronic music, and is known for albums including AfroPhysicist, Escape Velocity, Star People Nation, BLK2LIFE // A FUTURE PAST and LOVE QUANTUM. During his years in Shanghai, Croker held a residency at the House of Blues and Jazz, where Dee Dee Bridgewater heard him perform. He later toured in Bridgewater’s band, and in 2019 he brought a six-piece group to NPR’s Tiny Desk to play material from Star People Nation.

Ego Ella May is a British singer-songwriter from south London whose music draws on neo-soul, contemporary jazz and R&B. She is known for the album Honey for Wounds and songs including “Tea & Sympathy,” “How Long ’Til We’re Home” and “Girls Don’t Always Sing About Boys.” Her NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert presented material from Honey for Wounds in a small-band setting. She has also performed at Glastonbury Festival and Love Supreme Jazz Festival.
