Triumph is a Canadian hard-rock trio formed in 1975 and associated with Mississauga, Ontario. The original lineup comprised guitarist and singer Rik Emmett, drummer and singer Gil Moore, and bassist and keyboardist Mike Levine. Albums including Just a Game, Allied Forces and Never Surrender established the group, alongside songs such as “Magic Power,” “Lay It on the Line” and “Fight the Good Fight.” The band entered the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2008. Triumph began performing in Texas after receiving early radio airplay, then appeared at California’s US Festival in 1983. The group built its live reputation in arenas and stadiums, where its concerts featured elaborate lighting and pyrotechnics. In 2008, the original trio reunited to perform at Sweden Rock Festival and Rocklahoma.
April Wine is a Canadian rock band formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1969. Their hard rock and melodic pop-rock catalogue includes “Roller,” “I Like to Rock,” “Just Between You and Me” and “Sign of the Gypsy Queen,” while Harder ... Faster and The Nature of the Beast are among their best-known albums. In 1977, April Wine performed at Toronto’s El Mocambo during the Rolling Stones’ surprise club engagement, and recordings from the shows became Live at the El Mocambo. The band later played the inaugural Monsters of Rock festival in 1980 at Donington Park.
