Unsane are an American noise-rock band formed in New York City in 1988. Their abrasive guitar, bass and drums are captured on albums including Scattered, Smothered & Covered and Occupational Hazard; “Scrape” became their best-known song after its injury-filled video received airplay on MTV. A 1995 run supporting Slayer placed Unsane before larger metal audiences. After reforming in 2003, the band resumed club touring and later performed at Roadburn Festival in Tilburg. The live lineup retains the group’s guitar-bass-drums format, led by guitarist and vocalist Chris Spencer.
