Vieux Farka Touré is a Malian guitarist, singer and songwriter who plays desert blues rooted in the music of the Sahel. Born in Niafunké in 1981, he is the son of Ali Farka Touré and established his own catalogue through albums including The Secret, Mon Pays and Les Racines. He also recorded Ali with Khruangbin, revisiting compositions associated with his father. In 2010, Vieux Farka Touré performed at the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration in Johannesburg. He later toured with Israeli pianist Idan Raichel as the Touré-Raichel Collective after recording The Tel Aviv Session. His festival appearances have included Glastonbury Festival and WOMAD.
