Toninho Horta in São Paulo

Toninho Horta is a Brazilian guitarist, singer and composer born in Belo Horizonte in 1948. A central musician in the Clube da Esquina circle, he writes harmonically rich MPB and Brazilian jazz. His best-known work includes the compositions “Beijo Partido” and “Manuel, o Audaz,” as well as the albums Terra dos Pássaros and Diamond Land. Toninho Horta performed and toured with Milton Nascimento during the period surrounding Clube da Esquina, taking part in the concert life of the Minas Gerais song movement. His own shows have included solo guitar-and-voice performances and ensemble concerts built around his compositions, notably with Orquestra Fantasma.
