About We Lost The Sea
We Lost The Sea are an Australian instrumental post-rock band formed in Sydney in 2007. Their early work included post-metal and sludge elements, while later releases developed around long, cinematic instrumental compositions. Following the death of vocalist Chris Torpy, the band continued without a singer and made Departure Songs, a concept album featuring “A Gallant Gentleman” and “Challenger Part 1: Flight.” Their catalogue also includes The Quietest Place on Earth and Triumph & Disaster.
Their 2017 performance at Belgium’s Dunk!festival was documented on a live album. We Lost The Sea later toured Triumph & Disaster through Australia and Europe, presenting the record’s extended compositions as a full-band set in rock clubs and theatres.
Their festival history also includes England’s ArcTanGent and the Netherlands’ Roadburn.
