About Wintersleep
Wintersleep are a Canadian indie-rock band formed in Halifax in 2001 and fronted by singer and guitarist Paul Murphy. Their album Welcome to the Night Sky won the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and contains “Weighty Ghost,” the song most closely associated with the band; later records include Hello Hum and The Great Detachment.
In 2009, Wintersleep opened for Paul McCartney at Halifax Common. Two years later, they performed “Weighty Ghost” on Late Show with David Letterman.
The band also performed at Glastonbury and T in the Park.
