Artists
The Trews are a Canadian rock band formed in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, in 1997. Their guitar-led sound took shape on the debut album House of Ill Fame, which includes “Not Ready to Go” and “Tired of Waiting”; later releases brought songs including “Poor Ol’ Broken Hearted Me” and “Highway of Heroes.” In 2009, the band documented an acoustic concert at Toronto’s Glenn Gould Studio on Acoustic: Friends & Total Strangers. They later returned to their debut material for the House of Ill Fame 20th Anniversary Tour, performing the album in full as part of the show.
Wintersleep are a Canadian indie-rock band formed in Halifax in 2001 and fronted by singer and guitarist Paul Murphy. Their album Welcome to the Night Sky won the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and contains “Weighty Ghost,” the song most closely associated with the band; later records include Hello Hum and The Great Detachment. In 2009, Wintersleep opened for Paul McCartney at Halifax Common. Two years later, they performed “Weighty Ghost” on Late Show with David Letterman. The band also performed at Glastonbury and T in the Park.
