Artists
Yard Act are a British post-punk band formed in Leeds in 2019. Fronted by James Smith, they pair clipped guitar and danceable rhythms with his spoken-sung narratives. The early single “Fixer Upper” established that approach, while the debut album The Overload was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize; Where’s My Utopia? followed with songs including “Dream Job” and “We Make Hits.” In 2022, Yard Act toured behind The Overload and performed at Coachella in California and Glastonbury Festival in Somerset. Touring for Where’s My Utopia? followed in 2024 and included a hometown outdoor concert at Millennium Square.
The Armed is an American collective formed in Detroit in 2009. The group plays dense hardcore punk, noise rock and experimental rock, and is known for an intentionally fluid public lineup and albums including Untitled, Only Love, Ultrapop and Perfect Saviors. “All Futures” and “Sport of Form” are among its best-known songs. In 2021, The Armed released Ultrapop: Live at the Masonic Temple, a concert film centered on a full-band performance. In 2023, they supported Queens of the Stone Age on North American dates of The End Is Nero Tour.
