About Youp van 't Hek
Youp van 't Hek is a Dutch comedian, cabaret performer, writer and columnist, born in Naarden in 1954. He is known for solo theatre programmes that combine confrontational monologues and songs, and for his televised New Year's Eve conferences. His sustained attack on the non-alcoholic beer Buckler in the 1989 conference became one of his best-known routines.
In 1973, he began performing with Cabaret NAR before building a long solo career in Dutch theatres and returning repeatedly to the New Year's Eve conference format. His farewell programme De Laatste Ronde! toured the Netherlands and concluded in February 2024 at Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam.
