Stephen Schwartz in Palm Springs

Stephen Schwartz is an American composer and lyricist, born in New York City in 1948, whose work spans musical theatre and film. He wrote the music and lyrics for Godspell, Pippin and Wicked, and contributed lyrics to the Disney films Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchanted. In 1971, Godspell opened off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Pippin followed at the Imperial Theatre in 1972, extending his work onto Broadway. In 2003, Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre, which became its Broadway home.
