About Alexander Malinin
Alexander Malinin is a Russian singer, born in Sverdlovsk in 1958, whose repertoire centres on Russian romance, folk songs and pop ballads. He won the Grand Prix at the 1988 Jurmala song contest and became known for songs including “Naprasnye slova,” “Poruchik Golitsyn” and “Bely kon.”
In 1990, he presented the first Alexander Malinin Ball at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex in Moscow. The theatrical concert became the model for a long-running series built around his romance and pop repertoire; later productions included the Easter Ball and Christmas Ball.
