About Armandinho Macedo
Armandinho Macedo is a Brazilian guitarist, mandolin player and composer born in Bahia. The son of trio elétrico pioneer Osmar Macedo, he is known for extending the vocabulary of the guitarra baiana through frevo, choro, rock and jazz, both with A Cor do Som and in his own work. His compositions include “Zanzibar” and “Chame Gente.”
He performed at Carnaval de Salvador with Trio Elétrico Dodô e Osmar, carrying his family’s amplified street-music tradition into successive carnival seasons. He later toured with A Cor do Som, whose appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival was documented on the live album Ao Vivo no Festival de Montreux.
