BADBADNOTGOOD is a Canadian instrumental group formed in Toronto in 2010, playing jazz informed by hip-hop, soul and electronic music. The group first attracted attention through instrumental versions of music by Odd Future and other rap artists. Its catalog includes the albums III and IV, the Ghostface Killah collaboration Sour Soul and Talk Memory. In 2012, BADBADNOTGOOD backed Frank Ocean at Coachella. The group later performed at Glastonbury and recorded an NPR Tiny Desk Concert in 2017, presenting its saxophone, keyboards, bass and drums as an improvising live ensemble. Festival appearances following Talk Memory included Primavera Sound.

Digable Planets are an American hip-hop trio formed in Brooklyn in 1987 by Ishmael Butler, known as Butterfly, Mariana Vieira, known as Ladybug Mecca, and Craig Irving, known as Doodlebug. Their jazz-based rap reached a wide audience through “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)” and the debut album Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space); its follow-up, Blowout Comb, became another central work in their catalogue. After disbanding in 1995, the trio reunited for touring in 2005. They regrouped again in 2015, and their 2016 performances included an NPR Tiny Desk Concert backed by live musicians and an appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
