About Balkan Beat Box
Balkan Beat Box are an Israeli band formed in Brooklyn in 2003 by Ori Kaplan and Tamir Muskat; Tomer Yosef later became its lead vocalist. They play Balkan brass, Middle Eastern rhythms, electronic dance music and hip-hop. “Bulgarian Chicks” and “Hermetico” are among their best-known tracks, and “Hermetico” was sampled in Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty.”
Balkan Beat Box have toured as a full band, led onstage by Yosef’s vocals, Kaplan’s saxophone and Muskat’s drums and percussion. Their festival appearances include Glastonbury in England and Bonnaroo in Tennessee. They have also performed at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, well beyond the band’s Brooklyn point of origin.
