About Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn
Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn are an American banjo duo formed by the married musicians of the same names. They play folk and bluegrass-rooted music centered on three-finger and clawhammer banjo. Their self-titled debut won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album, and they followed it with Echo in the Valley.
At the 2015 Newport Folk Festival, the duo performed material from their debut album. After releasing Echo in the Valley, they toured theatres and performing-arts centres and later recorded a joint NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
Their duo performances feature two voices and several banjos in different registers. The arrangements place Bela Fleck's three-finger lines and Abigail Washburn's clawhammer playing at the centre.
