About Björk
Björk is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and producer, born in Reykjavík in 1965, who makes electronic pop and experimental music. She first became widely known as the singer of the Sugarcubes before beginning her solo career with Debut. Albums including Post, Homogenic and Vespertine, and songs such as “Human Behaviour,” “It’s Oh So Quiet” and “Jóga,” established her solo catalogue.
On the 2001 Vespertine World Tour, she performed with Matmos, harpist Zeena Parkins and an Inuit choir in opera houses and theatres. Biophilia opened as a residency at Manchester International Festival in 2011 and used custom-built instruments created for the project. In 2019, Cornucopia placed material from Utopia in a staged concert for choir, flutes, percussion and electronics; the production premiered at The Shed in New York.
