About Cameo
Cameo is an American funk band formed in New York City in 1974 and led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Larry Blackmon. Its tightly arranged funk, R&B and synth-driven dance music became widely known through “Word Up!,” “Candy,” “She’s Strange” and “Back and Forth.”
Cameo performed at Glastonbury Festival in 2009, bringing its horn-and-synth repertoire to the Jazz World Stage. In 2016, Larry Blackmon led the band into a residency titled Cameo: The Show at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, presenting its established concert set in a casino showroom.
