About Codeine
Codeine is an American slowcore trio formed in New York in 1989. Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle and Chris Brokaw established the band’s stark, unusually slow sound on Frigid Stars LP; the releases Barely Real and The White Birch completed its original recording run.
In 2012, Codeine reunited for concerts around Numero Group’s When I See the Sun box set, returning to the stage after its 1990s breakup. The reunion took the trio through North America and Europe and included a performance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
