About Concerto Köln
Concerto Köln is a German period-instrument orchestra founded in Cologne in 1985. It performs Baroque, Classical and early Romantic repertoire through historically informed practice, and is known for recordings of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, Vivaldi concertos and symphonies by Joseph Martin Kraus.
Concerto Köln has performed at the Salzburg Festival and Lucerne Festival and established its own concert series at Kölner Philharmonie. The ensemble later worked with conductor Kent Nagano on Wagner-Lesarten, a research and performance project that brought Das Rheingold on period instruments to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
