Craig Finn in Milwaukee

Craig Finn is an American singer-songwriter, born in Boston in 1971 and raised in Minnesota. He is the vocalist and principal lyricist of The Hold Steady and previously led the Minneapolis band Lifter Puller. His solo catalogue includes Clear Heart Full Eyes, We All Want the Same Things, I Need a New War and A Legacy of Rentals, as well as songs such as “God in Chicago” and “Messing with the Settings.” In the 1990s, he played Minneapolis clubs with Lifter Puller before beginning an extensive touring life as frontman of The Hold Steady. Tours under his own name followed Clear Heart Full Eyes, and he later took the Uptown Controllers on the road for his subsequent solo records, playing clubs and theatres. He has also repeatedly fronted The Hold Steady at the band’s Massive Nights concerts at Brooklyn Bowl.
