John Scofield is an American jazz guitarist and composer, born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1951. His music encompasses post-bop, jazz-funk and groove-based fusion. His catalogue includes A Go Go, recorded with Medeski Martin & Wood, and Überjam, while his work with Miles Davis forms another central part of his discography.
In 1982, he joined Miles Davis’s band and spent the next several years touring and recording with him. The 2003 album EnRoute documented a trio performance at the Blue Note in New York with Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart.
