Emmet Cohen in Gdansk

Emmet Cohen is an American jazz pianist and composer, born in Miami in 1990. His music draws on post-bop, stride and the wider jazz piano tradition. He is known for the albums Future Stride and Uptown in Orbit, as well as the Masters Legacy Series, recorded with senior jazz musicians including Jimmy Cobb, Ron Carter and Benny Golson. In 2020, Emmet Cohen started Live From Emmet’s Place as a weekly livestream from his Harlem apartment. Bassist Russell Hall and drummer Kyle Poole formed the core trio, while guest musicians joined individual broadcasts. He later brought the trio to the Village Vanguard and the Newport Jazz Festival.
