Enrico Macias in Dubai

Enrico Macias is a French singer-songwriter, born Gaston Ghrenassia in Constantine, Algeria, in 1938. His chansons draw on the Arab-Andalusian and Jewish musical traditions of North Africa, and he is known for songs including “Adieu mon pays,” “Les Filles de mon pays,” “Enfants de tous pays” and “Le Mendiant de l’amour.” In 1962, he opened for Gilbert Bécaud at the Olympia in Paris, returning there as a headliner two years later. He subsequently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1968 and later appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
