About Garmarna
Garmarna are a Swedish folk-rock band formed in Sundsvall in 1990. They recast traditional ballads through electric guitars, violin, hurdy-gurdy, percussion and electronic textures, fronted by Emma Härdelin’s vocals. Their best-known recordings include “Herr Mannelig” and the albums Vittrad, Guds spelemän and Vedergällningen.
After releasing Vittrad, Garmarna toured in Sweden and Germany as their recordings reached listeners beyond Scandinavia. Further European dates and a first North American tour followed, and in 1997 the band performed on the travelling Lollapalooza festival.
