Gladys Knight in Atlantic City

Gladys Knight is an American soul and R&B singer, born in Atlanta in 1944, who first became known as the lead voice of Gladys Knight & the Pips. The group’s signature recordings include “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)” and “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me”; her solo catalogue includes the James Bond theme “Licence to Kill.” Gladys Knight & the Pips performed on Motown package tours after joining the label in the 1960s, then spent the following decades headlining concert halls and theatres. After the group’s final tour, she established a solo concert career that included a Las Vegas engagement at the Tropicana and a 2009 UK farewell tour supported by Tito Jackson. She later returned to British stages for further concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
