About Hibla Gerzmava

Hibla Gerzmava is an Abkhazian-Russian operatic soprano, born in Pitsunda in 1970. She won the vocal Grand Prix at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1994 and is known for roles including Violetta in La traviata, Mimì in La bohème and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni.

In 1995, she joined the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre as a soloist. She founded the Hibla Gerzmava Invites... festival in Abkhazia in 2001, combining opera concerts with appearances by guest singers and instrumentalists. Her later engagements included performances at the Royal Opera House and the Metropolitan Opera.
