About Jan Lisiecki
Jan Lisiecki is a Canadian classical pianist, born in Calgary in 1995 to Polish parents. He became known through his interpretations of Chopin, including early recordings of both piano concertos, and his Deutsche Grammophon catalogue includes Chopin: Études and Beethoven: Complete Piano Concertos.
In 2008 and 2009, he performed Chopin’s piano concertos at the Chopin and His Europe festival in Warsaw, and those concerts were issued as recordings. In 2018, he played all five Beethoven piano concertos at the Konzerthaus Berlin, directing the Academy of St Martin in the Fields from the keyboard; the performances formed the basis of his complete concerto album.
Beyond Germany and Poland, he has given recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York and appeared at the BBC Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
