About Nobuyuki Tsujii
Nobuyuki Tsujii is a Japanese classical pianist and composer, born in Tokyo in 1988 and blind from birth. He became widely known after sharing the gold medal at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and his repertoire includes music by Chopin, Debussy, Liszt and Rachmaninoff alongside his own compositions.
Tsujii made his Carnegie Hall recital debut in 2011, including his own Elegy for the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11, 2011 in the programme. In 2013 he made his BBC Proms debut, performing Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with the BBC Philharmonic under Juanjo Mena at the Royal Albert Hall.
