Jarkko Martikainen in Hyvinkää

Jarkko Martikainen is a Finnish singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Greifswald in 1970. He is best known as the frontman and principal songwriter of the progressive and alternative rock band YUP, whose catalogue includes “Joutilas” and “Meitä odotellaan mullan alla.” His solo work began with the album Mierolainen and has placed greater emphasis on acoustic, lyric-led songwriting. During YUP’s active years, Jarkko Martikainen fronted the group in Finnish rock clubs and at festivals. He later toured his solo catalogue in two established formats, performing alone with guitar and appearing with a backing band. The band concerts are billed as Jarkko Martikainen & Luotetut miehet.
