Jim Bob is a British singer-songwriter and author, born in London in 1960, best known as the co-founder and singer of indie-punk group Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. Formed with Fruitbat in 1987, the group paired guitars and drum machines on songs including “Sheriff Fatman” and “The Only Living Boy in New Cross”; its albums include 30 Something and 1992 – The Love Album. His solo records include Pop Up Jim Bob, Who Do We Hate Today? and Thanks for Reaching Out. Jim Bob and Fruitbat reunited Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine at Brixton Academy in 2007, followed by further concerts that included Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. The group staged billed farewell shows in 2014. Jim Bob has since toured under his own name in solo-acoustic and full-band formats, drawing sets from his solo records and the catalogue of Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine.
