John Maus is an American musician and composer, born in Austin, Minnesota, in 1980. He makes experimental synth-pop marked by lo-fi production, minimal electronics and a baritone vocal style. His best-known album, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves, includes “Believer,” “Hey Moon” and “Cop Killer”; his catalog also includes Love Is Real and Screen Memories. Early in his career, John Maus played keyboards with Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.
