Artist
Kyoto Jazz Massive is a Japanese jazz and electronic project formed in Kyoto by brothers Shuya and Yoshihiro Okino. Its music draws on jazz-funk, broken beat and house; the debut album Spirit of the Sun includes “Eclipse” and “Mind Expansions,” while Message from a New Dawn followed as the project’s second album. At the 2004 North Sea Jazz Festival, Kyoto Jazz Massive performed material from Spirit of the Sun as a live ensemble. Later, the project played full-band dates at London’s Jazz Cafe, while Shuya Okino also presented its catalogue through club DJ sets.
