Lydia Lunch is an American singer, poet and spoken-word artist, born in Rochester in 1959 and closely associated with New York’s no wave movement. She fronted Teenage Jesus and the Jerks before pursuing solo and collaborative work; key recordings include the album Queen of Siam, 13.13 and her version of “Some Velvet Morning” with Rowland S. Howard.

Teenage Jesus and the Jerks performed in the 1978 no wave concert series at Artists Space, which preceded the Brian Eno-produced compilation No New York. She later gave solo spoken-word performances, and in 2012 began touring her song catalogue with the full-band project Retrovirus.
