Maria Rita is a Brazilian singer, born in 1977, whose repertoire encompasses MPB and samba. The daughter of Elis Regina and pianist-arranger César Camargo Mariano, she established her own recording career with the album Maria Rita, featuring “A Festa,” “Cara Valente” and “Encontros e Despedidas.” Samba Meu placed samba at the centre of her work, while Redescobrir revisited songs associated with her mother. The Samba Meu concert production was documented on the live album and film Samba Meu: Ao Vivo, recorded at Vivo Rio in Rio de Janeiro. In 2012, she took Redescobrir to the stage as a full concert devoted to the repertoire of Elis Regina and preserved the production on another live album and film.
