Artist
Marillion are a British progressive rock band formed in Aylesbury in 1979, initially under the name Silmarillion. The Fish-fronted lineup recorded Misplaced Childhood, home to “Kayleigh” and “Lavender,” and followed it with Clutching at Straws. Steve Hogarth became lead singer in 1989, beginning the era that produced albums including Brave and Marbles. The first Marillion Weekend took place at Pontins in Brean Sands in 2002 and established the band’s multi-concert convention format, which has included complete-album performances. In 2017, Marillion played the Royal Albert Hall, a concert documented on All One Tonight. Two years later, the With Friends from the Orchestra tour placed the band onstage with the In Praise of Folly string quartet and additional musicians. Marillion has staged later editions of the Weekend at Port Zélande in the Netherlands and in Montreal, Canada.
