About Nightmares On Wax
Nightmares on Wax is an English electronic project formed in Leeds in 1988 by George Evelyn and Kevin Harper, and later led by Evelyn. Its sample-driven downtempo music draws on hip-hop, soul and dub; early tracks “Dextrous” and “Aftermath” established the name, while Smokers Delight, Carboot Soul and In a Space Outta Sound became key albums in its catalogue.
Wax Da Jam, the party series Evelyn founded in Ibiza, provided a long-running club setting for his DJ sets at Las Dalias. In 2014 he marked the N.O.W. Is the Time retrospective with live-band performances, and in 2018 Nightmares on Wax brought that ensemble format to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert.
