Oasis in Knebworth

Oasis are a British rock band formed in Manchester in 1991, built around Liam Gallagher’s lead vocals and Noel Gallagher’s songwriting and guitar work. Their guitar-driven Britpop became widely known through the albums Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, including “Live Forever,” “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova.” Oasis played their first show at the Boardwalk in 1991. In 1996 they staged two nights at Maine Road followed by two at Knebworth Park, establishing stadium concerts as a major part of their live history. Their 2000 Wembley Stadium shows supplied the core recording for the live album Familiar to Millions. The Dig Out Your Soul Tour ended in 2009 after their scheduled performance at Rock en Seine was cancelled and Noel Gallagher left the band.

Richard Ashcroft is an English rock singer-songwriter, best known as the lead singer and principal songwriter of The Verve. His work with the band includes “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” “The Drugs Don’t Work” and “Lucky Man” from Urban Hymns; his solo catalogue began with Alone with Everybody and the single “A Song for the Lovers.” The Verve played a homecoming concert at Haigh Hall in Wigan in 1998 during the touring cycle for Urban Hymns. As a solo artist, Richard Ashcroft joined Coldplay at Live 8 in Hyde Park in 2005 to perform “Bitter Sweet Symphony.” After The Verve reunited in 2007, the band toured again and headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2008.
