Palehound in New York

Palehound is the American indie-rock project led by singer, songwriter and guitarist El Kempner. Formed in 2013 and associated with Boston’s indie scene, the group is known for albums including Dry Food, A Place I’ll Always Go, Black Friday and Eye on the Bat, as well as songs such as “Molly,” “Healthier Folk” and “The Clutch.” Palehound performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago in 2016, taking the project’s guitar-led full-band set onto a major festival stage. The group also toured with Big Thief, playing clubs and theatres together.

Cassandra Jenkins is an American singer-songwriter from New York City whose music draws on indie folk, ambient pop and understated rock. She is best known for the album An Overview on Phenomenal Nature and its spoken-word-centered song “Hard Drive”; her catalog also includes Play Till You Win and My Light, My Destroyer. In 2019, Jenkins rehearsed with Purple Mountains for a planned tour that was cancelled after David Berman’s death. Following An Overview on Phenomenal Nature, she toured her solo work through clubs and theatres in the United States and Europe, building on earlier road work as a member of Eleanor Friedberger’s band.
