Panda Bear & SONIC BOOM in Porto

Panda Bear is the solo project of Baltimore-born American musician Noah Lennox, a co-founder of Animal Collective. His experimental psychedelic pop is built around layered vocals, samples and repetition; he is best known for the album Person Pitch and songs including “Bros” and “Comfy in Nautica.” A 2010 concert on Governors Island in New York previewed songs that appeared on Tomboy the following year. His 2015 concerts for Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper used a solo setup centered on voice, samples and electronics, and he followed them with performances built around Buoys in 2019. Panda Bear played Coachella in 2015. In 2023, he and Sonic Boom performed Reset at Primavera Sound in Barcelona.

Sonic Boom is the stage name of English musician and producer Peter Kember, born in 1965 and known as a co-founder of Spacemen 3. His work covers psychedelic rock, drones and experimental electronic music, including Spacemen 3 albums The Perfect Prescription and Playing with Fire, recordings made as Spectrum and E.A.R., the solo album All Things Being Equal, and Reset, his collaboration with Panda Bear. During the 1990s, he toured with Spectrum, carrying his post-Spacemen 3 material into clubs and theatres. In 2023, Sonic Boom toured with Panda Bear behind Reset, presenting the album together in concert and appearing at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Glastonbury Festival.
