Paul McCartney is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer, born in Liverpool in 1942. He became known as the bassist and a principal songwriter of The Beatles, whose catalogue includes “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be.” He later formed Wings with Linda McCartney and released works including Band on the Run, while his solo recordings include “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

The Beatles played Shea Stadium in 1965 and gave their last ticketed concert at Candlestick Park in 1966. Paul McCartney later took Wings on the Wings Over the World tour in 1975 and 1976, then returned to solo touring with The Paul McCartney World Tour in 1989 and 1990. His later concert history included the Out There and Got Back tours.

Paul McCartney performs with a full band and switches among bass, guitar and piano; he also plays “Blackbird” alone on acoustic guitar. His long-serving touring group has included Paul Wickens, Rusty Anderson, Brian Ray and Abe Laboriel Jr.

Paul McCartney headlined Glastonbury in 2004 and again in 2022. Between those appearances, he headlined Coachella in 2009 and performed at Desert Trip in 2016.
