Ryan Adams is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, in 1974. He first became known as the frontman of alt-country band Whiskeytown before releasing his solo debut, Heartbreaker, in 2000. The albums Gold and Cold Roses, together with songs including “Come Pick Me Up,” “New York, New York” and “When Stars Go Blue,” established his catalog across alt-country, folk and rock.

In 2004, Ryan Adams began performing and recording with the Cardinals, the band that accompanied him through much of the decade. His two solo acoustic concerts at Carnegie Hall in November 2014 drew on songs from Whiskeytown, the Cardinals and his solo records; recordings from those performances were later released as a live album. A full band accompanied him again on the 2017 Prisoner Tour.
