Saul Williams is an American poet, rapper, musician and actor, born in Newburgh, New York, in 1972. He became known through the spoken-word poetry scene and his starring role in the 1998 film Slam. His music ranges across alternative hip-hop, industrial rock and electronica; key releases include Amethyst Rock Star, Saul Williams and The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!, while “List of Demands (Reparations)” is among his best-known songs.

In 2005, Williams opened for Nine Inch Nails on dates of the With Teeth tour, beginning a working relationship that later led to Trent Reznor producing NiggyTardust! His own concerts combine rapped songs, spoken poetry and electronic rock arrangements. He has presented that performance style at Coachella.
