About dälek
dälek is an American experimental hip-hop group formed in Newark, New Jersey, in 1998 by rapper Will Brooks, known as MC Dälek, and producer Alap Momin, known as Oktopus. The group set forceful rap vocals against layers of noise, distorted samples and industrial rhythm; its central albums include Absence and Abandoned Language.
In 2007, dälek supported Tool on a European arena tour, placing the group’s abrasive hip-hop in front of heavy-rock audiences. After returning from a hiatus, they resumed club and festival performances, including Roadburn in Tilburg.
