Scarface in Washington

Scarface is an American rapper from Houston, born Brad Jordan in 1970. He first became known as a member of Geto Boys, whose catalog includes “Mind Playing Tricks on Me,” and built a solo career around albums including Mr. Scarface Is Back, The Diary and The Fix. His best-known solo tracks include “I Seen a Man Die,” “Smile” and “On My Block.” Scarface took his Farewell Tour across the United States in 2022, performing songs from both his solo catalog and the Geto Boys years. His 2023 NPR Tiny Desk Concert recast that material for a live band, including “On My Block,” “Mary Jane” and “Mind Playing Tricks on Me.” Longtime collaborator Mike Dean played keyboards during the performance.

Devin The Dude is an American rapper born in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised in Houston. He first recorded with Odd Squad and Facemob before releasing his solo debut, The Dude. His conversational delivery and comic storytelling are heard on “Do What You Wanna Do,” “Lacville ’79” and “What a Job,” while Just Tryin’ ta Live became another central album in his catalogue. The Acoustic Levitation Tour brought Devin The Dude’s album of the same name into U.S. clubs. He later performed with a live band for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert.
