About Shellac
Shellac was an American rock trio formed in Chicago in 1992 by guitarist and vocalist Steve Albini, bassist and vocalist Bob Weston, and drummer Todd Trainer. Their spare, abrasive noise rock placed guitar, bass and drums in sharp relief; the group is known for albums including At Action Park, Terraform and 1000 Hurts, and for songs such as “Prayer to God” and “The End of Radio.”
Beginning in 2006, Shellac returned year after year to Primavera Sound in Barcelona. The trio also played clubs and theatres, retaining the same three-person lineup and often pausing for a brief audience question-and-answer session. In 2012, Shellac co-curated the Nightmare Before Christmas edition of All Tomorrow’s Parties at Camber Sands.
