Smoove & Turrell are a British funk and soul group formed in Newcastle upon Tyne around producer and DJ Smoove and singer-songwriter John Turrell. Their debut album, Antique Soul, introduced songs including “Beggarman” and “I Can’t Give You Up”; subsequent records include Eccentric Audio, Crown Posada and Stratos Bleu. Smoove & Turrell developed the studio partnership into a seven-piece touring band led by Turrell’s vocals and Smoove’s turntables and samples. The group has taken that format to Glastonbury Festival and Bestival.
