Ted Nugent in Jim Thorpe

Ted Nugent is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter born in Detroit in 1948. He first became known as the lead guitarist of the Amboy Dukes, who recorded “Journey to the Center of the Mind,” before establishing a solo career built around songs including “Stranglehold,” “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Free-for-All.” He later played in Damn Yankees and recorded “High Enough” with the group. The 1978 concert album Double Live Gonzo! collected performances from his mid-1970s shows. Decades later, he joined Styx and REO Speedwagon for the 2012 Midwest Rock ’n Roll Express tour. In 2023 he mounted Adios Mofo ’23: The Final Tour, which he billed as his last tour. He played California Jam II at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1978. His later festival appearances included a 2006 performance at Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg.
